Concept and Curation by Ami Weickaane aka Buuu

  • LES FILLES DE MAWU (2021)

The “LES FILLES DE MAWU” exhibition is a modern tale inspired by the legend of the goddess MAWU. It is both a work of art and an experience that raises questions related to the structurally dystopian nature of the postmodern world and proposes the first steps toward an answer by interacting with its audience.

Ami Weickaane curated that exhibition by T.I.E. & NDOHO ANGE for the PARTCOURS @ Galerie le Manège in Dakar in November 2021.

  • LE MAQUIS NINA (2025)

Le Maquis NINA is a living space and a pop-up salon designed by AMI WEICKAANE for Echos Paris Noir, to honor, transmit, and celebrate heritage—and to pay tribute.

Inspired by African maquis—gathering places of resistance, community, and transmission—Le Maquis NINA is at once a space of remembrance, a haven, and an art salon.

It takes root in the powerful legacy and worldwide impact of Nina Simone as a way to highlight and continue celebrating Black women in art, design, and all creative and intellectual fields.

An audio archive has been initiated within the space—to collect stories, create traces, and carve infinite pathways for future generations. For AMI WEICKAANE, who sees herself as an ancestor of the future, this archive is both a gesture of remembrance and a radical act of projection.

  • AFROPUNK

Curated by Ami Weickaane, ART & TIMES

    FIRST AFROPUNK PARIS FESTIVAL‘S EXHIBITION.

After curating a film and cinema corner and programming fashion designers, vendors, and partners for the Afropunk outdoor market in past editions, here Ami invites people to have a look at the souls of Afro-descendant artists who made a duty to remember, a duty to recognize a common history, a strong and assumed identity, and a creativity that comes from the gut as if to say, You see us, and we show you… all this through art and times that are crumbling. This is due to the urgent need to address the current crisis.
